Marco Asensio has swapped Paris for the Premier League after joining Aston Villa on loan, but off the pitch, the Spanish star enjoys a settled life with his stunning wife, Sandra Garal.
The 29-year-old midfielder, who struggled for game time at PSG under Luis Enrique, is hoping to revive his career under Unai Emery. Meanwhile, Sandra has been making waves of her own—transitioning from working as a nightclub waitress to becoming a successful architect and social media influencer.
A career beyond football
Sandra, 30, is a qualified architect and interior designer, having graduated from Madrid's Superior Technical School of Architecture. She runs her own business but also embraces a glamorous lifestyle, often modeling for brands on Instagram, where she has over 362,000 followers.
Fashion is one of her passions, and last year she attended Milan Fashion Week, sharing exclusive glimpses from Louis Vuitton and Elisabetta Franchi shows. She frequently collaborates with luxury brands, including Alo Yoga and Luxenter.
From nightclub to wedding bells
The couple met in 2019 at a nightclub in Madrid, where Sandra was working as a waitress. They kept their romance private early on, but by the end of that year, they were seen together at the wedding of Asensio’s former teammate Sergio Ramos and Pilar Rubio.
After four years together, they tied the knot in 2023 in a stunning ceremony at La Fortaleza in Mallorca. Asensio’s father was his best man, and guests included Gareth Bale and tennis legend Rafael Nadal. Instead of traditional wedding gifts, the couple requested donations to the Marco Asensio Foundation, which supports children battling cancer.
The Dua Lipa connection
Before meeting Sandra, Asensio was bizarrely linked with pop sensation Dua Lipa. The speculation arose after the singer performed at the 2018 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool. However, Dua Lipa quickly dismissed the rumors, humorously posting: “I haven’t even met Marco Asensio, and it’s highly unlikely I ever will as my Liverpool-supporting manager would never forgive me.”
While those rumors fizzled out, Sandra and Asensio have built a strong relationship. With his arrival in the Premier League, she may soon become a familiar face on English shores.
